"I'm just like Tinker Bell, I need applause to live."
When and how did you start performing?
The stage has always been my one true love. I started my performance journey in dance as a child. I then became obsessed with theater around 2001 and quickly made way into training aerial arts, which led me to discovering SLOTease.
When did you get into burlesque, specifically?
Spring 2015
Where do you find your inspirations?
In the music! If there is a beat or a lyric that resonates with my current emotional state, I can't help but envision choreography. Once the music is there, I typically find my movement inspo from various circus artists.
What advice would you give new performers?
Create a persona and embody that creature to the fullest extent.
Do you have a method for creating your numbers? Or is it all madness?
It definitely feels like madness! I put the song on repeat, set up a video camera, and just move until I realize I've started doing the same thing at the same moment. BOOM Choreography.
Do you have a favorite costume piece? What is it?
Definitely my garter flask. I was on the hunt for something that I could wear that would allow for a shot on stage. I walked into a costume shop while on a trip in Arizona and it was front and center.
Who are some performers you admire?
Uh.. every single member of SLOTease!!
What do you really enjoy about performing?
Losing myself into an alternate reality. I shape-shift into my character persona the second I step into the wings.
Do you have a favorite moment from being on stage you can share? It does not have to be from a SLO Tease show!
There is a really special moment right before the lights come up in any performance. You feel the incredible buzz of energy and antici.......pation oozing through the tiny little, temporary world we've created. That has always been my favorite moment.
